GOVERNOR BOBBY JINDAL WILL BE SWORN IN FOR HIS SECOND TERM IN OFFICE TODAY, AT CEREMONIES AT THE OLD STATE CAPITOL IN BATON ROUGE. THE GOVERNOR TELLS US HE'S EXTREMELY EXCITED TO HAVE WON RE-ELECTION, AND TO BE STARTING HIS NEXT FOUR YEARS. JINDAL SAYS INAUGURATION EVENTS TODAY HAVE BEEN SCALED DOWN, SO THAT ATTENDEES CAN ALSO GO TO THE BCS TITLE GAME, FEATURING LSU VS. ALABAMA.

GOVERNOR BOBBY JINDAL OFFICIALLY BEGINS HIS SECOND TERM IN OFFICE TODAY. WHAT MAY BE THE FOCUS OF HIS NEXT FOUR YEARS IN THE GOVERNOR'S MANSION? LSU POLITICAL SCIENCE PROFESSOR WAYNE PARENT SAYS FURTHER PUBLIC EDUCATION REFORM WILL BE MR. JINDAL'S TOP PRIORITY. GOVERNOR BOBBY JINDAL WILL HOLD A FUNDRAISER ON JANUARY 17TH TO HELP RID PLAQUEMINES PARISH PRESIDENT BILLY NUNGESSER OF $1-MILLION IN PERSONAL DEBT RACKED UP DURING HIS FAILED BID FOR LT. GOVERNOR. POLITICAL ANALYST CLANCY DUBOS SAYS MANY PEOPLE BELIEVED THAT JINDAL WAS SECRETLY HELPING NUNGESSER AS MUCH AS HE COULD DURING THE CAMPAIGN. HOWEVER, JINDAL DIDN'T PUBLICLY SUPPORT EITHER CANDIDATE IN THE RACE, WHICH WAS WON BY INCUMBENT JAY DARDENNE.

MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING FOUR PEOPLE WANTS HIS TRIAL MOVED OUT OF BATON ROUGE DUE TO NEWS COVERAGE OF THE SLAYINGS. TRUCKO STAMPLEY WANTS THE TRIAL MOVED. HE IS CHARGED WITH FOUR COUNTS OF FIRST-DEGREE MURDER IN THE APRIL 2007 SLAYINGS. THE CASE HAS GARNERED SIGNIFICANT ATTENTION DUE TO THE NUMBER OF VICTIMS AND OTHER OCCURRENCES. THE JUDGE WHO PRESIDED OVER THE CASE FOR FOUR YEARS DISQUALIFIED HIMSELF LAST YEAR AFTER REVEALING HE RECEIVED A DEATH THREAT FROM STAMPLEY. PROSECUTORS INTEND TO SEEK THE DEATH PENALTY. TRIAL IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN JAN. 23.

LOUISIANA AUTHORITIES ARE INVESTIGATING A SHOOTOUT THAT INJURED TWO BYSTANDERS OUTSIDE A MALL IN BATON ROUGE. GUNFIRE ERUPTED BETWEEN TWO GROUPS OF PEOPLE SATURDAY NIGHT OUTSIDE THE MALL OF LOUISIANA. THE VICTIMS, BOTH BOYS, WERE TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL WITH INJURIES THAT WEREN'T CONSIDERED LIFE THREATENING.

NEW ORLEANS POLICE SAY A SHOOTING INCIDENT FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE CITY'S WARREN EASTON HIGH SCHOOL HAS LEFT FIVE PEOPLE - FOUR TEENS AND AN ADULT - WOUNDED. THE SHOOTER REPORTEDLY FIRED INTO A CROWD LEAVING A BASKETBALL GAME. POLICE HAVE A GOOD DESCRIPTION AND ARE SEEKING THE SUSPECT.

DREW BREES AND THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS ARE POURING ON THE POINTS, RACKING UP THE WINS AND REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS NEARLY EVERY TIME THEY PLAY. NEW ORLEANS BROKE THE POSTSEASON MARK FOR TOTAL YARDS WITH 626, BEATING THE RECORD SET 49 YEARS AGO. THE SAINTS WILL TRAVEL TO SAN FRANCISCO FOR NEXT SATURDAY'S SECOND-ROUND GAME.

TONIGHT'S THE BIG NIGHT. IT'S LSU/ALABAMA PART TWO IN A BCS TITLE GAME THAT'S BEING CALLED THE GAME OF THE CENTURY. TIGER RAG MAGAZINE CONTRIBUTING WRITER MARTY MULE SAYS THE EXTREME HYPE SURROUNDING THIS GAME NO DOUBT STEMS FROM THE RIVALRY THAT'S BREWED BETWEEN THE TWO TEAMS OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS. A RACELAND MAN WILL SERVE 30 YEARS IN PRISON FOR A 2011 CRASH THAT KILLED A THIBODAUX VETERINARIAN. 51-YEAR-OLD JAMES DANTIN PLEADED GUILTY TO THE CHARGES FRIDAY. ACCORDING TO POLICE REPORTS, HE WAS SPEEDING WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS, WHEN HE REAR-ENDED A TRUCK DRIVEN BY DR. KC TOUPS; PUSHING IT ACROSS THE CENTER LINE AND INTO THE PATH OF AN ONCOMING GARBAGE TRUCK. BLOOD TESTS REVEALED HE WAS ON COCAINE AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH.

TROY LANDRY, FROM THE POPULAR HISTORY CHANNEL SHOW "SWAMP PEOPLE", HAS SUED THREE COMPANIES FOR USING HIS TRADEMARK-PROTECTED PHRASES ON MERCHANDISE. LANDRY HAS TRADEMARKED PHRASES HE REPEATS ON THE SHOW, LIKE "CHOOT EM", "TREE SHAKA", "TREE BREAKA" AND MORE. LEGAL ANALYST TIM MECHE SAYS LANDRY HAS A GOOD CASE AGAINST THE MERCHANDISERS AND COULD WIN A PILE OF CASH IN THE SUIT.

NEW ORLEANS POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING THE DEATHS OF A MAN AND HIS SON WHO WERE FOUND SHOT TO DEATH IN THE FOYER OF THEIR HOME. THE TWO, WHO WERE SHOT NUMEROUS TIMES, WERE KILLED EARLY SATURDAY MORNING AND WERE FOUND LYING SIDE BY SIDE. . WITNESSES TOLD POLICE THE SHOOTING MOST LIKELY HAPPENED AFTER A HEATED ARGUMENT TOOK PLACE EARLIER IN THE DAY BETWEEN THE VICTIMS AND A FEMALE NEIGHBOR. THE DISPUTE ALLEGEDLY INVOLVED ACCUSATIONS OF INFIDELITY BETWEEN MEMBERS OF BOTH HOUSEHOLDS. POLICE ARE SEARCHING FOR THE SUSPECTS.
