A WEST MONROE TEENAGER HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY, BY A BOSSIER PARISH JURY, OF MURDERING HIS PARENTS LAST YEAR. THE JURY WAS OUT LESS THAN TWO HOURS BEFORE RETURNING THE GUILTY VERDICT FOR 16-YEAR-OLD DALTON FLETCHER ON TWO COUNTS OF 2ND-DEGREE MURDER. FLETCHER'S DEFENSE ARGUED THE TEEN WAS VICTIM OF PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL ABUSE. PROSECUTORS SAY FLETCHER WAS A RULE BREAKER AND HAD PLANNED HIS PARENTS DEATHS FOR WEEKS. HIS SENTENCING WILL BE IN FEBRUARY.

THE YOUNG MAN WHO PULLED THE TRIGGER IN A 2010 DRIVE-BY SHOOTING THAT KILLED AN INNOCENT WOMAN IN PINEVILLE PLEADED GUILTY TO MANSLAUGHTER MONDAY AND AGREED TO TESTIFY AGAINST AN ACCOMPLICE WHO IS IN JAIL AND WILL STAND TRIAL NEXT MAY.
JEREMY KIRK WAS SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IN PRISON AT HARD LABOR BY 9TH DISTRICT JUDGE JOHN DAVIDSON ON THE REDUCED MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE. KIRK WILL RECEIVE CREDIT FOR TIME SERVED. HE WAS ARRESTED ON THE NIGHT OF THE SHOOTING ON MAY 11 OF LAST YEAR .KIRK AND DIMITRI SMITH WERE INDICTED ON SECOND-DEGREE MURDER CHARGES IN JULY 2010. BOTH ARE FROM PINEVILLE. KIRK WAS 17 AND SMITH WAS 16 WHEN 36-YEAR-OLD ANNETTE HARRIS WAS SHOT IN THE HEAD WITH A .38-CALIBER BULLET AS SHE SAT IN HER LAKEVIEW STREET HOME.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE WILL SOON BE INFORMING THE COUNCIL ON WHAT STEPS NEED TO BE TAKEN TO FILL GOINS’ SEAT.

RAPIDES PARISH POLICE JURORS, MEETING IN COMMITTEE ON MONDAY, PASSED A MOTION TO ADOPT THE PARISH'S 2012 OPERATING BUDGET. AVOYELLES PARISH SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES ARE INVESTIGATING THE DEATH OF A WOMAN IN MARKSVILLE. 61 YEAR OLD CHRISTINE MAYEAUX WAS FOUND ABOUT 12:30 P.M. MONDAY WHEN DEPUTIES WENT TO HER HIGHWAY 452 HOME IN MARKSVILLE, AFTER RECEIVING A PHONE CALL OF AN UNRESPONSIVE OCCUPANT WITHIN THE HOUSE. AUTHORITIES SAY HER DEATH WAS THE RESULT OF FOUL PLAY.

A SLOW COLD FRONT MOVED ACROSS THE STATE MONDAY AND LEFT BEHIND THE BIGGEST RAIN EVENT NORTH LOUISIANA HAS SEEN SINCE OCTOBER OF 2009. ARE IN JAIL.
