A SPORT UTILITY VEHICLE DRIVEN BY PINEVILLE MAYOR CLARENCE FIELDS STRUCK AND KILLED A PEDESTRIAN IN PINEVILLE. ACCORDING TO A NEWS RELEASE, LOUISIANA STATE TROOPER SCOTT MOREAU SAYS FIELDS WAS DRIVING WEST ON LA. 28 AROUND 9 P.M. SUNDAY NIGHT WHEN HE STRUCK 29-YEAR-OLD ERICA L. TERRELL OF PINEVILLE, WHO WAS WALKING IN THE RIGHT LANE. TERRELL WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. FIELDS WAS NOT INJURED IN THE CRASH. WE WERE INFORMED YESTERDAY THAT TWO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF THE MAYORS VEHICLE, BARELY AVOIDED HITTING THE WOMAN. THAT REPORT, TO THIS POINT, HAS NOT BEN CONFIRMED. THE INVESTIGATION, BEING CONDUCTED BY THE STATE POLICE, IS ON GOING.

THE ALEXANDRIA AND PINEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENTS WILL PARTICIPATE IN AMERICA'S NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME, AS THEY WILL JOIN WITH APPROXIMATELY 15,000 COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE NATION, CANADA AND MILITARY BASES ACROSS THE GLOBE IN THE 28TH ANNUAL EVENT. ALEXANDRIA'S EVENT WILL BE FROM 5:30 TO 8 P.M. AT THE PUBLIC SAFETY COMPLEX, LOCATED AT 1000 BOLTON AVE. THE PINEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL HOST ITS FIRST NATIONAL NIGHT OUT EVENT FROM 6 TO 8 P.M. AT THE MAIN STREET COMMUNITY CENTER. ADMISSION TO BOTH EVENTS IS FREE.

PINEVILLE PD SAY THEY WERE ACTING ON A TIP YESTERDAY WHEN THEY RAIDED A SANDIFER LANE HOME AND FOUND SEVERAL ILLEGAL NARCOTICS AND THE COMPONENTS FOR MAKING CRYSTAL METHAMPHETAMINE. THE FOUR PEOPLE IN THE APARTMENT WERE ARRESTED AND BOOKED INTO THE RAPIDES PARISH DETENTION CENTER

PRINCETON REVIEW RANKS LSU 13TH IN THEIR ANNUAL LISTING OF TOP PARTY SCHOOLS IN THE COUNTRY. AUTHOR OF THE REPORT, ROB FRANK, SAYS IT'S THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2007 LSU HAS MADE THIS LIST. OHIO IS RANKED NUMBER ONE FOLLOWED BY GEORGIA AND OLE MISS. THE PRINCETON REVIEW RANKED LSU AS THE TOP PARTY SCHOOL BACK IN 2000.
