The Louisiana Children’s Health Insurance Program, or LaCHIP, provides health care to uninsured children up to age 19. It is a no-cost health program that pays for children’s hospital care, doctor visits, prescription drugs, shots and more. Learn more about what LaCHIP covers.
Children can qualify for LaCHIP using higher income standards than traditional Medicaid. A family of four can earn as much as $44,000 per year and still qualify for LaCHIP.

The only way to know if a child qualifies for LaCHIP is to apply. Parents can apply for LaCHIP online by visiting the Louisiana Medicaid Online Application Center. The application process takes about 30 minutes. Click here to apply for LaCHIP.
